Children the world over have reason to celebrate the birth of
Charles Perrault, born 300 years ago today in Paris. Perrault's
most enduring work is a collection of fairy tales that bore
the subtitle Contes de ma mere l'Oye, or Tales of My Mother
Goose, which he began when he was 67. The book includes "Cinderella,"
"Puss in Boots," "Sleeping Beauty," "Little Red Riding Hood,"
and many others.
