Boston Red Sox pitcher George Herman "Babe" Ruth is sold to
the New York Yankees for $125,000, the most money ever paid
for a ballplayer. Ruth hit a record 29 home runs during the
1919 season and had asked that his salary be doubled from $10,000
to $20,000.

James Blackstone is bowling a perfect game until the last frame,
when the seemingly impossible happens. All of the pins go down
except one, and that one breaks in two - leaving one half still
standing. He winds up with a score of 299 1/2.

Stadion in Athens, Greece. With nine nations participating,
